Pots de Creme

So, in order for me to avoid eating my body weight in candy, chocolate, etc. I've started making little desserts (cookies, breads, etc.) to not only keep the cravings to a minimum, but to get a little more creative in the kitchen. Also, I feel a tad more fancy eating some French dessert than I do Twizzlers, but then I realize I'm still in sweat pants. Hey, I tried.

Antler Anatomy

I'm not the hunter in the house, but I can appreciate a good rack when I see one. OK, I took that one too far, but I had to throw it in there. Antlers have become a hit over the past couple of seasons, and you're not just seeing them in cabins and winter homes. Stray Dog Designs even gives their paper mache take on taxidermy in the below picture. I've told my husband that his prized possession deer will always have a place in our house-I just love it! Matchbook Magazine's March issue inspired this post with a look inside Sheridan French's home.

Stencil Me In

Anyone else sick of staring at their solid, white walls? I've grown up with a phobia of all things white since I tend to spill and still make messes like that of a six year old. Plus, I am a bit of a color addict. Enough rambling, I'm here to talk about adding some color and texture to your walls without using pricey wallpaper. Now, you can keep your white by adding a little pizazz to it.

Meet my new best friend, the stencil. This is perfect for a bathroom, or you can just keep it to one wall.

The company, OMG Stencils has a wide array to choose from ranging in the $20's-$40's.

This patterned paint roller works just as well, maybe even better. This way if you have a little mess up, it will be barely noticeable. This Etsy find is from a company, Not Wallpaper with rollers ranging from $20-$40.

Farmhouse Chic

I tend to lean towards the more eclectic pieces with bold colors and a bohemian vibe, but I'm going to try the farmhouse chic look on for size (well, just in the post).  Let's combine some well loved pieces and mix with a modern touch. 

Last year, Matthew and I had a blast starting our first garden in our backyard. We started small with just tomatoes, herbs and a few types of peppers, but this year we plan to do much more. While looking into revamping our outdoor decor, I thought about how that look would translate indoors. Thus, farmhouse chic! 

These two iron baskets may have been used for gathering all kinds of goodies from the garden, but I would probably fill them with magazines or towels for the guest room.

I love the idea of a farmhouse table with these colorful chairs to add a touch of flair to the room. When the day comes that we have some room for one of these it will be my first new purchase, mark my words! 

My mom just updated her sunroom with a new table that I just have to share.

She has more chairs coming that will match the new ones on the left side.

Block It Out

A new year means making some simple changes around the house. What are some easy updates you can make that won't involve a painter, a contracter, and a few fights with your husband? Hum, let's see...

By adding new pillows to freshen things up, turning a garage sale steal into a game changer by way of gloss and fabric, and maybe even a pouf, you can transform your house in no time. 

I have a real respect for those designers that have their hands in single every bit of their creation. That's also why I have a new developed love for these hand-printed textiles right now. 

This Atlanta based company, Block and Brayer does it right with their bohemian patterns. 

Also out of Atlanta, Kari Fisher Design. Kari's pillows are one of a kind and she does all the hand blocking herself. 

I'm keeping an eye out for more one of a kind designs like these, and please share if you know of any to add.
